Yes, they are.  Maybe not by many, but they are used.  :)

Robert's Rules are not the only rules of parliamentary procedure
that are used in the USA.  However, they are the most commonly-used
rules for certain types of organizations.

Not all motions need be seconded in Robert's Rules of Order (and
in other rules of parliamentary procedure).  For example, nominations
for office neeed not be seconded.

The rules in place depend on what an organization wants.
Some organizations prefer an informal meeting, others a formal
meeting.  Culture ane society also affect how meetings are
conducted.

I was poking fun, as there is nothing in P4 or EP1 concerning
rules of order.  I am a political scientist, as is Björn, each
of us having a certificate to prove it.  You may not have caught
the humor, but I am certain Björn did.  :)

I am free to insist all I want.  You and others are free to ignore
all you want.  But I do expect the result will be honored and respected,
by Björn Felten and then Andrew Clarke upon receiving Björn's request.

Of course, you do realize what this means.

Those who participate(d) in this poll (conducted by you) have (in
effect) recognized Björn Felen as official moderator of the FN_SYSOP
echo.  Once Andrew Clarke pulls the plug, that act will be his own
recognition of Björn Felten as official moderator of the FN_SYSOP
echo.

Makes it kind of funny given the fact that Ross Cassell, Janis Kracht,
and Roger Nelson have all voted in favor of your motion.  ;)
