Are you sure they are parking lights? i have never seen yellow parking lights.

In the old days, the 5 Watt lights - usually an integral part of the headlight,
were called city lights. Meant for driving in well lit up areas. Parking lights
were optional and usually consisted of ONE fixture mounted on the side that
emitted white light to the front and red to the back for the one on the left
side. For the one on te right side it was just the other way around. The left
one was used for parking on the right side, the other when parking in the left.
I had them mounted on my Fiat 500. A small electeronic circuit with a LDR made
them go on automatically in the  dark. The circuit was sensitive enough to
detect when it was parked under a street light. It was a 2 Watt bulb, so under
normal conditions it would not drain the battery in a week.

Later city light were banned from use when driving and they were renamed
parkingh lights. old carts sometimes have the possibility to only habe the left
ones burning whan not driving.

Of course that does not mean they will be approved here.

I think you should not feel too bad about that. These yellow lights were never
original to begin width. i am sure that in the German version they were white.

But I am a bit surprised that you had to add these what I would call "daylight
driving lights". Because as I see it, that is what they are. Compulsory on all
new cars after 2011 (in The Netherlands). To be used in XOR mode withe the
other light during day time. Older cars need not be retrofitted.

I know that in Sweden having lights even in bright sunlight on a clear day is
mandated. But I'd have thought that the regular headlights would do.

Do all old cars have to be retrofitted or is it just that cars imported from
outside the EU have to comply with the regulations for new cars?

BTW, I may add one of those white lights you mounted on your Merc on the front
on the Bandit.
