There are two houses of Congress and one chief executive.
In order to become law, for all intents and purposes, the
legislation had to have passed both houses of Congress
and signed into law.  Which is exactly what happened.

The idea of sequestration was by Republicans.  Democrats,
including President Obama, claimed to be opposed to the idea,
yet chose to go along with it anyway.

Austerity has never worked in the past.  And it will not
work today, or at any time in the future.  Continuing down
this path will lead to financial ruin.  Not just for some,
but for all.

Two-thirds of the US economy is consumer spending.  What
happens when consumers have less expendable income?  They
spend less money.  What happens when consumers spend less
money?  The economy contracts.  What happens when the
economy contracts?  The US has another great depression.

Looking on the bright side, what follows a great depression
is another FDR ...

A majority of congresscritters in the House voted in favor
of the legislation, a majority of congresscritters in the
Senate voted in favor of the legislation, and the president
signed the legislation into law.

 TR> `obamacare'.

Gitmo is still open.  Detainees are held without charges,
given a cot to sleep on, as much food as they can stomach,
and a copy of the quran to use as toilet paper.  Of course,
access to health care is a given, as the Castro brothers
have insisted.

President Obama has promised to close the facility, but
is having a tad bit of difficulty finding places in the US
to hold the trials for those 149 detainees ...

 TR> Even democrats are beginning to await the day he's gone!
