Times change.  People change.  Society changes.

Not so long ago everybody got married.
And cohabitation was most taboo.

Today nobody gets married, except perhaps
those who are of the same sex.
And cohabitation is more the norm, rather
than the rare exception.

It used to be couples made lots of babies,
resulting in very large families.
Today there are many childless couples,
and couples having more than one child is
the exception rather than the norm.

What will tomorrow bring?  In addition
to traditional marriage, same-sex marriage,
cohabitation, and single parenthood, will
we also have plural marriage?  Just think
of what such a world would be like.  We
could all be married to each other ...

Everything dies.  Sometime.  Why should we as
individuals seek to advertise our own demise?
Why should our families and loved ones seek to
do the same for us, especially without our
asking or consent?

Other than those who have a need to know, what
concern is it of others?

Is it mandatory for a funeral home to have an
obituary published?  I would find that hard to
believe, although it may be that if requested
then a funeral home must act in that regard.

Just throw my body/carcass to the buzzards
for all I care.  No need for cremation, or
torching on a funeral pyre.  Buzzards like
to feed, and will gladly carry my remains
to the far corners of the earth.

I saw a guy leap off the Mississippi River
Bridge.  The lady who was in the car with me
then got on her cell phone and called for
help.  And also all her friends to tell them
what she had just seen.  Until the battery
on her cell phone ran out of juice.  She
was a hairdresser, and I was taking her to
work.  I was never so happy to let a woman
out of my car as I was when I finally got
to her place of business.

When terrorists struck the WTC Towers in NYC
on 911, live television coverage showed people
jumping out windows to their deaths.  Americans
watched these events unfold on their tv sets,
their eyes glued for days on end as news footage
was shown over and over and over and over again.

There are snuff films on the internet.  Quite
popular in some quarters.  There are also films
made in Hollywood based on the same theme.  As
well as made for television.

A movie series called "Faces of Death" is about
real events, not fiction.  It is a cult classic.

Sooner or later somebody is going to do a live
suicide on the internet, if it has not been done
already.

And then there is the fad of group suicide, started
in Japan, the cult leaders probably having gotten
the idea for that one from Jim Jones and The Temple.
Or maybe from Heaven's Gate.
