You really can't know with a certainty IMO.. see, passworded secure sessions
can make an insecure connetion impossible, no matter what you try.. If the
sysop has set his mailer to only accept sessions from secure systems only...
you are out of luck. We have always regarded privacy first here in Zone 1.. as
irritating as it can be. I remember way way back trying to netmail some trouble
maker and I couldn't get through... but I could contact him in echomail <g>

Also, like for instance, much to Ward's dismay I know Jon Justvig _will_ be
back, his mailer is already running at 1:1/1.. we had some problems getting him
listed with his "new" other aka IN NET 282, in Kansas, but that will be fixed
soon,  but the point I was trying to make is that sometimes it just takes
friggin' time....Drives die, old systems giveup the ghost, Know what I mean?
Then again, RCs should be checking their nets, now and then have to be rebuilt
:)... goes without saying...... and as far as I've seen here in zone 1, ALL the
RCs are responsive and active.. works for me <g>

RCs sometimes take over nets when the original NC goes west, or disappears..
Just so the people in the net don't lose their nodenumber :) If you can take on
the role of NC, speak up :)  :)

There are still folks who probably have a feed elsewhere.. For instance I have
something like 120-125 (maybe 130) downlinks over here (sorry Bjorn <g>)
