What can I say? I have never lost a key. I had drives going bad, but I have
never lost a key. Keyword: back up. OK, I will play along, suppose I have lost
the key. We are pretty deep into the hypothetical already, but OK, I will play
along.

That would be one of the options...

In what now seems to be a previous life I was a member of an amateur theater
group. More than one actually, but I will focus on the last one. Amateur
theatre was one of my other hobbies. But it being a hobby does not mean it is
without oubligation. You can miss a couple of rehearsals, but when it is
showtime, you HAVE to be there. The others depend on you. And then I got
another job. The one I had was a comfortable nine to five job. No panic
situations, no overtime, just nine to five, so no problem.

But the new job was different. It paid twice as much, and was almost nine to
five, but not really. When there was a problem I was expected to pack my bags,
hop on the next plane to Zürich, Vienna or Jo'burg and fix the problem. For as
long as it took to solve the problem.

So.. I told my fellow members of the amateur theatre group: sorry folks, I have
accepted a job that may send me out any time to solve a problem somewhere, so I
can't guarantee that I will always be there when it is show time. Count me out
for next season.

My point is that if one is no longer able to do the job properly, one should
step down and make room for someone else who can. The reasons do not matter. It
also does not matter if these reasons are within or without one's control.

whatever his problems are, Jon obviously is unable to do the job. The
honourable thing to do is to step down.
