It is not a secret that I am not a fan of Swiss Army Knives. They can come in
handy on a camping trip, but for the machine shop, I want real tools.

I prefer a dedicated WiFi access point over a router with integrated WiFi. For
one: the best place for the router is usually not the best place for the access
point. The router is usually placed where the cables come together. In my case
the meter closet. That is definiteley not the best place for the WiFi
antenna...

Also, if I want better WiFi, f.e. add 5GHz capability, I just change the access
point, not the whole router. An access point that is just an access point will
be version agnostic, so it will pass IPv6 just as well as IPv4.

Already 7 years ago, I told myself not to buy any new network stuff that is not
IPv6 compatible. That worked.

It is just as easy.

Remember that the plug and play you describe for IPv4 with NAT also took time
to evolve. My first DSL router needed quit a lot more to configure than just a
password. It took time to evolve. IPv^^has to go throughthe same process. Many
ISP's have already arrived at the point that IPv6 is just as easy as IPv6.
Confihure a password and plug and play.

If the customers would not buy what will not work tomorrow, then the suppliers
could not sell it...
