absolutely correct, matt... you remember more in the years you've been gone
than many who have been here for decades ;)

it shouldn't be "hard" to do... the reason why many don't know or understand it
is because most echomail is/was archived into bundles... in this day in time,
this is being done less and less and raw PKTs are being sent... this allows
systems that can compress on the fly do so and get even better transfer rates
than can be achieved sending precompressed files... anyway, routing echomail
also comes down to the software being used... some software has ""protections""
built in so that messages with an AREA line are treated solely as echomail
whereas other software treats all mail as netmail and only uses the AREA line
to decide where to place the messages in the local message bases...
