You have never attended a Don Rickles performance.
People pay good money to get insulted by Don Rickles.
Some are innocent, not really having a clue as to what
his show is about, wind up getting insulted and are
left with tears streaming down their faces.  Don,
being the "king of insult" that he is, has a remedy
for that.  He invites them backstage, smiles the
biggest smile a fat man could ever do, refunds
their money, and gives each of them an autographed
picture of himself.

Of course, most folks who attend his shows know
full well what they are getting.  Or hoping to get.

I tried to insult him in Cajun French during one
of his performances.  He insulted me back, in French,
reminding me he and his wife used to live in Paris.
The town in France, not in Texas.

I thought it best not to try to insult him in Sicilian.
The last time somebody did that, a godfather invited
him to a party, which he politely declined.  Probably
a good thing, as the godfather and several of his
associates did not survive the party.  When the
press asked him why he declined the invitation,
Don said it was only because he did not like clams.

Kind of hard to insult a clam.  And even if you
do, they don't shoot back.  Which probably explains
why there are no sports teams named "Clams".

Puerto Ricans who were serving drinks (in plastic
cups only due to security concerns) were laughing
their heads off as Don insulted them, knowing he
is truly the nicest man on earth.  Yes, he really
does tip really well.  Even when not tipsy.
