=====================
Hello Dale,

LL>> Dale Shipp, apparently lost at sea, had a strange thought -

 LL>> -=quote=-

LL>> .... Tradition in most echos is that an echo belongs to the
LL>> person who started it. That person is the moderator until
LL>> they pass it on to someone else.

 LL>> -=end quote=-

LL>> Thom Jennings passed this echo to the one who followed,
LL>> and that one passed this echo to the one who followed, and
LL>> that one passed this echo to the one who followed ... and
LL>> Frank Vest passed this echo to Björn Felten (the one who
LL>> followed). My guess is that someday Björn Felten will
LL>> pass this echo on to someone else (NOT ME!) and then go
LL>> fishing or hunting or whatever Vikings do in Valhalla.

LL>> Funny that Dale Shipp had no problem recognizing Frank Vest
LL>> (or any of the other previous editors of the Fidonews) as being
LL>> the legitimate moderator of this echo. So why is it that he
LL>> refuses to recognize Björn Felten as being the one and only
LL>> legitimate moderator of this echo?

DS> Where did you get the that idea? You are lying.

Excuse me? Did I misquote you? Please correct me
if I am wrong. "Tradition in most echos ..." are your
words, are they not?

LL>> Did Thom Jennings need an elist to declare himself moderator
LL>> of this echo? I don't think so. And yet that does seem to be
LL>> the basis of Dale Shipp's contention. An individual needs to
LL>> have the permission of the elist in order to be the moderator
LL>> of an echo. Not just an elist, but THE ELIST (or as it is
LL>> called in some quarters, THE ECHOLIST).

 DS> Another lie.

When did Tom Jennings ever need to rely on an elist to tell
him what to do or what not to do? When did any of the other
editors/moderators who followed him ever need to rely on an
elist to tell them what to do or what not to do? As far as
I know, none of them did.

LL>> "Tradition in most echos" - notice Dale Shipp very deliberately
LL>> included the word "most" as part of his statement. That means
LL>> there are "exceptions" to that tradition. So what exactly are
 LL>> his "exceptions"?

LL>> HE ISN'T GOING TO TELL YOU!

DS> Figure it out for yourself.

No elist, private or public, has any official status in fidonet.
Everybody knows that. But there are some who refuse to admit it.

DS> Perhaps by bothering to look at the rules of the various echos?

That has nothing to do with the price of rice in China.

LL>> "I send everything to Ross." - Thom LaCosta, former "Elist Keeper"

LL>> Ben Ritchey, who now claims to be the current "Elist Keeper", has
LL>> admitted to conspiring with Thom LaCosta in order to take over the
LL>> elist. Which is overseen by Ross Cassell, the real power behind
 LL>> the throne.

DS> Another eroneous statement. LaCosta did not give anything to Ritchey.

"Very true, though I did discuss taking over the Echolist operation
with Thom on several occasions, having done extensive testing with
Thom and Dana (author) to implement iRex Email formatted messages
and such. Thom wasn't ready but agreed I should be considered for
the position. Then when the Elist stagnated I told Thom I was
starting up the list myself and he said Ok." - Ben Ritchey

There is absolutely no question that Ben Ritchey and Thom LaCosta
were in cahoots from the very beginning on this matter ...

DS> Ritchey started on his own, and many moderators accepted him by sending in
 DS> their listings to him.

Ritchey is a stooge, same as LaCosta was. Ritchey has publicly
admitted to censoring submissions -

"Silly and/or inappropriate echo submissions are deleted at
my discretion." - Ben Ritchey

See what I mean? If he finds an entry unacceptable then he will
discard it, the submission never making it past his own desk.
That is censorship, plain and simple. And then, if a submission
happens to pass his "sniff" test, the entry is then sent to the
feedcutter of fidonet, Ross Cassell, for final approval.

You see, the way it works is that Ben Ritchey filters the entries,
and Ross Cassell has the final say as to which of those entries
get to be distributed. Of course, Ross Cassell's own entries are
pre-approved by both Ben Ritchey and Janis Kracht, making them one
big happy family ...

LL>> It makes no difference who claims to be the "Elist Keeper", as the
LL>> elist itself is totally meaningless. Those of us in the free world
LL>> recognize this fact, and have recognized it for a very long time.

DS> It is not meaningless to those who chose to use it.

It is a form of censorship, approved by the Z1C High Command.
