Hmmmm ... OK. Valid point.
 
I recommend the book written by Sergei Nikitich which was a biography of Nikita
Sergeyevich as experienced by his son. It explains that the USSR were never
intent on using the nuclear weapon, only as a defense and they were scared
shitless about the offensive intents of the USA.
 
Enlightening reading...

In Britain there was a similar ban on WW2-files for 70 years. Known for several
years already it was expertly revealed in the movie "The Imitation Game" about
the cracking of the Enigma-secret. I think the wartime activities of MI6 are
still a closed matter.

Even a ton of stuff going back to the Nazi era was until very recently still
classified.
 
After the war e.g. all Nazi douments related to the Holocaust were brought
together in a gigantic warehouse in Bad Arolsen. Today it is called the
"International Tracing Service". ITS's total inventory comprises 26,000 linear
metres of original documents from the Nazi era and post-war period, 232,710
meters of microfilm and more than 106,870 microfiches. Work is under way to
digitize the files, both for purposes of easier search and for preserving the
historical record.
 
The task of organising that, even just indexing, is enormous and only as
recently as 2007 have the 11 administering powers (Belgium, France, Germany,
Greece, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom, and the
United States) agreed to open-up whatever is already accessible, to the public.
 
Taking so much time maybe it wrestled justice away from those that needed it
...
 
Having provided services for the US Memorial Holocaust Museum in Washington DC
I've been often contacted by 3rd and 4th generation surviving Jews in search of
the fate of their ancestors and being blocked in their research by Bad
Arolsens' non-accessability was very frustrating.
