Hello Everybody,

The French people gave the American people a present long ago,
with an inscription of a poem written by Emma Lazarus -

             The New Colossus

 Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

 With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

 Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

 A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

 Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

 Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

 Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

 The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

 "Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she

 With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

 Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

 The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

 Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

 I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

It seems over half the governors of our states have
forgotten those words, choosing to turn their backs on
those who are most desperate and in need of help.

27 governors say they are opposed to allowing Syrian
refugees into their states.  All are Republicans, with
one lone Democrat (from New Hampshire).

Here is a list of those states opposing refugees -

The states allowing refugees are -

1. Colorado
2. Connecticut
3. Delaware
4. Hawaii
5. Pennsylvania
6. Vermont
7. Washington

Republican candidate for president Donald Trump called accepting
Syrian refugees "insane."

"We all have heart and we all want people taken care of, but with
the problems our country has, to take in 250,000 -- some of whom
are going to have problems, big problems -- is just insane.  We
have to be insane." - Donald Trump, Beaumont, TX

Not sure where The Donald came up with his 250,000 figure, but
those were his numbers.  The Obama administration had announced
it would take in 10,000 Syrian refugees next year, but nothing
like Trump's figures have been mentioned anywhere.

Bobby Jindal, another candidate for president, also opposes
Syrian refugees being settled in his state of Louisiana -

"It is irresponsible and severely disconcerting to place individuals,
who may have ties to ISIS, in a state without the states's knowledge
or consent." - Bobby Jindal, letter to President Obama on Saturday

"It would be prudent to pause the process of refugees coming to the
United States.  Authorities need to investgate what happened in Europe
before this problem comes to the United States." - Bobby Jindal, letter
to President Obama on Saturday

That's the ticket for success.  Let's have a study.  And another
study.  And another study.  And keep having more and more studies
until we know all there is or that can be known before we have to
make a decision.  And by then all the refugees will be dead, so
that no decision will have to be made at all.
