there's that QWK/BW thing again...

 >>> Those services are not offered by my node

EC>> Your choice, but still irrelevant.

DD> If the services are not offered it is not a BBS.

if the services /exist/ it is a BBS...

DD> A BBS requires interaction between the user and the host.

no it doesn't...

DD> There is nothing like that at my fidonet node.

sure there is... your news client connects to the BBS news server and sits
there waiting on you to select an area to gather mail from to read and possibly
reply to... that's interaction between the user and the host... your news
reader is on the same level as the traditional terminal and your news server is
on the same level as the message access portion of a traditional BBS...

LOLOLOLOL

EC>> By "BBS package" you probably mean software that can be run on a BBS.

DD> BBS is software - not just a physical computer. Is every physical

yes if they offer at least one BBS service...

EC>> As I already pointed out, a CP/M BBS could be run with nothing more

 EC>> QED!

DD> Huh? Running NNTP does NOT make a computer into a BBS - it makes it a
 DD> news server.

semantics again... you don't have a modem connection, either, do you? ;)

 >>> If you are so convinced that my fidonet node IS a BBS - what BBS
 >>> package do you think I might be running to provide the BBS services?

EC>> The computer IS the BBS!

DD> No it isn't - the word BBS is NOT synonymous with computer - at least
DD> in the English speaking world I live in.

so your plebes are as bad or worse than those in other places...

"So let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you've
killed all the bad guys, and when it's all perfect, and just and fair, and when
you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do
with the people like you? The trouble makers. How are you going to protect your
glorious revolution from the next one?" - The twelfth Doctor
