Oh dear ... anotherone ... and I thought we were rid of this nonsense with the
demise of Roy Witt.
 
Victory during WW2, in Europe, was due to one and one aspect only: the army of
the USSR. Even without D-Day, the German armies were already running in a
generally western direction for over a year.
 
The Battle of Stalingrad which officially ended Feb.2nd 1943, a year and 4
months 'before' D-Day, was "the" decisive military engagement in the European
theatre of WW2 warfare.
 
Without D-Day and the drive towards Berlin from the west, Russia still would
have defeated decisively the German armies. It wouldn't have taken them longer
than it did then, the only unanswered question would have been "What after the
german collapse?".

History shows that since 1776 the USA deployed its forces 328 times (FYI, the
whole of WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam each count as a single deployment).
 
I wonder how many times the USA was attacked? Pearl Harbor ... OK, what else?

Some things:
 
* When did Afghanistan attack the USA?
* American troops were never greeted as liberators, they were an occupying
  force
* The ruling of the country was completely destabilised, the elections
  "western style" were a disaster, the Taliban still rule

We all know that Hiroshima and Nagasaki were a deterent against Russia.
 
Japan had already lost the war, all its carriers sunk, all its heavy seagoing
units sunk or damaged beyond repair. There was no need to finish it off, it
lost it striking capability.

Yup, they lost the war on Dec. 7th 1941, just as Nazi Germany lost the war when
it attacked Russia.
