attempted to say something of no importance -

There are no moderators in FidoNet, as messages are posted
before any review takes place (or can take place).

So what?  Anybody can call for an election.  Anybody can hold an
election.  Doesn't make any of it valid or legit.

 FR> 1.1) Sunday 12 June, 00:00 - Saturday 25 June 23:59
 FR> Candidates present themselves.
 FR> Debating with candidates.

And if nobody bothers to show up?  What happens then?

If there is only one candidate then no election would be necessary.
It would be a done deal.

If there are no candidates then who would anybody be voting for?
If there was only one candidate, there would be no need of an election
because that one candidate would have won by default.  So for there
to be an election of any kind, it must be a contested election.

 FR> 1.4) Sunday 10 July 00:00 - Saturday 16 July 23:59. Opportunity to
 FR> file protests.

No protest would be allowed if there are no candidates.
Especially since there would be no election to protest.

No protest would be allowed if there was only one candidate.
Especially since there would be no election to protest.

The only election that could be protested would be a contested
election.  And then there would be the question as to who would
be allowed to protest, and to whom?

 FR> 1.5) If a protest is filed, the election will be discontinued until
 FR> the issue is resolved. It will then resume at point 1.6, if needed
 FR> with an updated time table.

The phrase "until the issue is resolved" can be a very long time.
An indefinite period of time.  In other words, the election will be
discontinued until the election coordinator decides to hold another
election.  Kind of a Gore v Bush type recount with no courts being
involved.

 FR> 1.6) If there is a candidate that has an absolute majority of the
 FR> votes (i.e more than half of the total number of votes cast), that
 FR> candidate will be the winner and the election ends.

That is an unclear statement.  The "total number of votes cast" can
mean many things.  Not only would be votes for various candidates, but
there would also be votes for write-in candidates, votes to abstain,
and invalid votes.  It also brings up the question as to whether all
are allowed to vote, as only the "total number of votes cast" are
considered.

 FR> 1.7) If there is no candidate with an absolute majority of votes, a
 FR> follow up election will be held between the candidate(s) that
 FR> ha(s|ve) the most vote(s) and the candidate(s) that ha(s|ve) the
 FR> second most votes.

An absolute majority of what?  The entire population of sysops?
That would be more than those who choose to participate in the echo.
And how can it ever be known who are participants, and who are not
participants?  If all sysops are allowed to participate, then the
absolute majority would be a very significant number.

But lets say this silly election is limited to those who have
chosen to participate in the echo during the past one year.  Even
then, this rule is silly.  And quite anti-democratic, mandating
"a follow up election will be held between the candidate(s) that
ha(s|ve) the second most votes."  No candidate should be forced
to withdraw from an election, as that would force the voters
to choose between the most unpopular choices remaining.  The
end result would be an absolute minority getting what they want,
against the wishes of the absolute majority.

This is getting sillier and sillier with each passing rule.
Reminds me of a game I used to play when I was a kid ...

Bernie Sanders is claiming the game is rigged.  I believe him.

Not to worry.  Donald Trump will replace Ronald Reagan
as King of the Universe.  How do I know this?  No Democrat
has ever won the White House when the NBA West has won the
Championship.  And right now, the Golden State Warriors are
up two games to none against the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers.

Yeah.  The old guy (King James) is in big trouble.  The
young stud (Steph Curry) is a real hotshot and burning the
net.

In a best of seven series, this one is gonna be a sweep.
