Michiel,

I'm not trying to cause trouble just want to learn a bit here. How on earth
does Z2 know what echos are available? How do you keep a catalog of them? I
know that there are many languages in Z2 as well. I've seen the Russian group
send a text file of echos or I think it's a text file of echos in thier
distribution.

Where Z1 tends to like things "centralized" it seems that Z2 likes to
"decentralize" everythign. But regardless, eventually there has to be one
centralized point where everything is assembled and listed?

Example 1

So how do you guys truly know what's out there? I tried to resssurrect an echo
that was dead for over 8 months and suddenly someone pops up and says it wasn't
dead and it wasn't adoptable. I get actual traffic going in ther that was on
topic that was soon soured by Z2 sysops who were screaming that I hijacked a
dead echo... yet there's been no traffic or no listing of anyone wanting to
maintain or promote the echo.

You see my point of confusion? The Echolist -is- a good tool to know if an
echo is owned, active, and available.

Example 2

A new echo was created for some Apple here in zone1. It did not exist and it
somehow got linked to a Z2 echo of the same name. The person who created it
(can't remember exactly who) was sidelined by people pinting the finger that
they hijacked the echo as well. He had -no clue- that the echo even exised and
how it got crosslinked into the z2 equivalent is beyond us.

Wether or not the Z1 Echolist is used there is a need for some sort of central
echolist for Z2. If you don't want to acknowledge the one over here it sure
would be great for those who want to participate in an international community
to have a reference point of what is available in each zone.

We are not psychic over here and can not expect to know what -is- and what -is
not- a z2 echo when there's no reference to it over there. Perhaps the
echolist should be considered an unnofficial courtesy? Personally I do like to
see a list of available echos as I can decide what I can choose to carry on my
system.

I'm not trying to cause trouble by saying that all echos should be manditorily
listed... I'm just saying it's a nice courtesy when they are and we know what
is available and where it's origins are rooted.

Allen
