those users could just as easily have been offline mail users, too... QWK and
BW were very popular all over the world at that time... that those users went
to using points, which is just another form of offline mail, is one of those
sysops suggesting such and possibly providing easy to install packages for
such... even with easy to install packages, most users i know of here in Z1
stayed with QWK and BW offline mail because that was what they were used to
using and we, here in Z1, did not want to loose them by forcing them to use
unfamiliar software...

i don't know if michiel (and others) are actually reading my followup messages
to you but you and others should be, and would be i hope, pointing out these
items to them... i've tried and tried and tried over the years and usually end
up so frustrated that i curse them out for not listening and/or understanding
and/or just seemingly to ignore the converse of their views on things... while
i hate to say it, i see a movement afoot... a movement that is not conducive to
fidonet's base tenet of communications... this base tenet is one of the reasons
why fidonet embraced the offline QWK and BW world to start with... the future
that i'm seeing that is based on these arguments is not a pretty one and could
easily cost the network the few users that it does still cater to... users that
post as much or more traffic than we mere sysops and enablers :(
