Being ex military myself with 28 years service,  I can tell you that at certain
times aircraft become surplus.  At least you guys have a place to store them,
for recall into active service if required.  We dont.  I dont deny that some of
that surplus came from cutbacks.  It is done here as well, when the politicians
think all is fine and they have to look good for the next election.  It also
works the other way.  They start spending money come election time.  They were
old aircraft Allen.  The military advisors were involved in that decision as
well.

There were good things about it, but, I agree.  What has made Detroit a
wasteland, is not federal rule.  rather it is the city fathers that did that. 
It was also the automakers who did that.  I have been to Detroit many times. 
My hometown is not far from there, and my son lives accross the river from
there.  Windsor was also  an auto city, as is Oshawa not far from here.  You
can put a lot of blame on the ITC for the lack of jobs in north America.
