Flooding is a natural occurrence that has happened many times in the past p
past prior to Man ever being here, and will occur again may times in the
future long after Man has gone extinct! 

BTW....there were `reasons' why the natives here prior to explorers arr
arriving didn't live right up ON most coastal areas or in flood plains; They
KNEW better!

I once lived on the high desert in Arizona. Hot...dry...

You walk along and if you pay attention to where you're stepping (as you s
should) you will notice little shells and fossils that actually belong on a sea

bottom! Much of Arizona is several thousand feet above sea level, and h
hundreds of miles from any sea!

-> The ground is so soaked it is going to take days if not weeks
-> to dry out.  But at least it has stopped raining, even though the

There is a river here called `the San Diego River'. Well....actually it's a 
mostly dry river bed with nothing but a narrow stream running down it.

People who made it rich I business back east come out here to retire and
buy homes from builders right ON the river's flood plain! And back in the la
late 1970's they couldn't understand when there was a heavy rain season th
that year...their homes got destroyed by flooding!

Big secret(looking both ways...voice dropping to a whisper) when a piece 
of ground was a river bed at one time....it doesn't matter if it was 30 
years or 30,000 years ago, and it's been dry as a bone ever since!! 
Someday it's gonna be a river again! When? Who knows! But it WILL be a 
flowing river again someday! Someday the circumstances that made it a 
river in the past...will once again occur and it will be flowing with water! 

Natural disasters are just that: `Natural'! Man has no control over them 
whatever. Building a huge city like NYC right up on the ocean when ocean le
levels have been changing since before Man even existed, and then bi
bitching because the water is rising isn't very smart.
