Did not know you spent the summer with Mormons... they are mostly nice people
but from what you wrote below that would not fly in any of the mormon
communities I've been in contact with.  I inherited the laptop that was owned
by my cousin... after my Aunt died he had no one (even though she died when she
was 88 and he passed at 61 years of age) I consider him my brother.  He was
very devout and I have all the scriptures available in searchable hypertext.
The Mormons believe in the King James Bible... but they have four other
scriptures and put together they call it "the quad".  They have the KJ Bible,
The Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price and most of all "The Doctrines and
Covenants" that is a "living" scripture altered by the seated prophet.  There's
some scary stuff in the Doctrine's and covenants.

In the D&C there's a whole chapter written by Joseph Smith called the "Words of
Wisdom" that is the Mormon health code.

     Our body is a precious gift from God. To help keep our bodies and our
     minds healthy and strong, God gave a law of health to Joseph Smith in
     1833. This law is known as the Word of Wisdom (see Doctrine and Covenants
     89:1-21.

Tea is not permitted either... it's not so much the caffene, but the hot drinks
that bans Tea, Herbal Tea, Hot Chocolate, or anything consumed hot.  It hurt
Joseph Smith's stomach and he did not like them.

So technically the "Red Bull" is ok... there's nothing specifically that
forbids the consumption of caffeen.  There is a prohibition against "Wine or
Strong Drinks" which in classic interpretation means liqour and alcohol.  Some
take it a step further to include Caffene as a strong drink.

For years Coca Cola was forbidden because it had Cocaine in it which is also
forbidden because it's considered an herb for healing only.  Some believe that
Coca Cola still has a trace of cocaine in it.  You will find that in a mormon
center Pepsi and other brands of cola will sell better than Coca Cola.  Soft
drinks are not forbidden.

As for Alcohol wine is permitted ONLY if it is made from pure grapes and used
during the sacarment celebration.  But most places where the sacrement is
celebrated use grape jucie.

Strong Drinks (Pure alcohol) is not for drinking but permissable for washing
the body for medicinal purposes.

The Doctrine and Covenants Words of Wisdom also caution about eating too much
meat as well.

It's not the caffeine on the coffee, in the Doctrines nothing forbids caffeene
only substances deemed illegal by the law of the land.  In fact there's now a
great debate on medical marijuana.  Based on how the D&C is written it's a
healing herb and now that it's proven to have healing properties it's now
something that -may- be used.  However there's also a commandment about smoking
anything which has now made the "vape" devices also fall into debate since it's
technically not smoking.  Eventually the "president/prophet" will have a new
revelation and that will be added into the D&C and become the law of the
Church.

You hit the nail on the head there.  Apparently they don't go to the Ward or
Stake much in that enclave.  You will find that they will be shamed if they are
around the "righteous".  But many of the Saints are like lawyers they look for
every loophole that they can find.

Technically the requirement is 1/10th... but some groups will guilt them into
1/5.  I do know that they have "financial counseling" with the local bishop and
they are so f-ing invasive they want to see your paycheck stubs and tax papers
to make sure you are giving your 1/10th.  The Bishops usually are the most
successful people in the congregation.  In my uncle's case he was a very high
ranking non-elected official in his state.

Yet they have one of the best internal "Welfare" units of any organized Church.
In my worst time of need when I first had my head injury and could not work
someone from our local Ward (meeting house) caught wind of it (probably through
my uncle) and they brought me food.

Then the ladies just started showing up... at first it was nice they would come
in clean my bathroom and we would discuss scripture for a little bit.  The
Teenagers would come and mow my grass, and do lawn things.  But it became
invasive... and I mean REALLY invasive.  They would show up as I was leaving
for thearpy unannounced... disturb my sleep (which I sleep a lot) and they
always brought a selection of the "homely" single girls with them because even
in my disabled state it's their duty to marry, reproduce.  Being disabled if I
went back to Church and especially if I got married they would take care of a
lot of the issues I am facing.  The mormons take excellent care of their
elderly, sick, and disabled.

But I'm not kidding when I say they would want any wife I choose to get
preganant.  And then there's always their adoption system.  Even disabled
people are expected to "increase the city of zion" or more importantly make
more mormons.

Honestly... I can see that they wanted to make more mormons... but if you ask
me I think they just liked sex and used it as an excuse to have orgies.
