About a week ago.  I actually ate at the place.
And yes, it was that bad.  There was a buffet in place.
One look and the sight alone made me gag.  I decided
to order a hamburger from the menu instead.  What I got
was not a patty but more like a lump of meat with no real
shape on a bun.  Kind of burnt.  But somewhat edible.
I won't even mention the sides, which were worse.

December 1980 was when Jimmy Carter was still running the show.

The Mariel Boat Lift was all Jimmy Carter's fault.  And those druggies
were not from Colombia, but from Cuba.  Fidel Castro had let them all
out of prison when Jimmy Carter told him to set them free.  Castro put
them on a boat and sent them right to Miami.

Latinos (mostly Mexicans) dominate the US Southwest.  Cubans dominate
the southern tip of Florida.  The two groups are very different, even
though both speak fluent Spanish.  Generally speaking, the two groups
do not get along well with each other.  They may be tolerant, but only
to a point.

Colombians are wonderful people.  So are Cubans.  Both are also a
proud people.  But like all peoples, there are those within each group
that are bad.  Truly bad.  Most despicably bad ...

A good many of those Cuban refugees found housing in Oakdale,
Louisiana after getting themselves in trouble in Miami.  They
caused a real riot when over here.  Even burned some of the
buildings down.  But more free housing was provided, thus putting
an end to the riots.  Now if only the US would normalize relations
with Cuba we will finally be able to send them all home ...
