Hello mark.

The problem or choice boils down to this as I see it

Do you add Internet ability in field 6 and allow multiple nodelist entries or
do you have one nodelist entry with multiple ability fields ...

Take your pick ...

I have my listing as follows:

=== Cut ===
,1,Rusty's,Bloemfontein,Russell_Tiedt,27-51-4476619,28800,V34,VFC,V32t,V32b,V42
 b,XA,CM,PING,IBN:rustysbbs.dyndns.org
=== Cut ===

One listing for POTS (field 6) and INET ability with an user flag.

Would have been able to "fly" an ISDN flag there as well for a short period.

For little longer than a month I had POTS/ADSL/ISDN all operating essentially
at the same time over the same wire connection ...

Keeping in mind that a number of Zone1/2 members are very quick to jump on the
"node stuffing" bandwagon.

So either way you are fucked if you do, and fucked if you don't ...

And *no one* took a stand way back when, and said "This is how it will be done
...

End of story"

So to-day we have a fucked up nodelist where johnny does it one way, and peter
does it another way, and anthony does it differently to all, and tells the
rest to *uck their mothers ...

What we need is a sensible way of listing ION's with their various abilities,
then a sensible way of listing multi-mode capable systems i.e.
POTS/ION/ISDN/WIRELESS(?)/whatever ...

Get the ZC's to accept it, and then stand on their collective hind legs and
say to their zones, "From herewith you will list your node as follows ... , of
remove yourself from FidoNet, if you don't comply" i.e. the choice is yours
whether you want to be in the nodelist or not. "You have 4/8 weeks to comply"
"END OF STORY"

Because we currently have members of the same club following their set of
rules and other members of the club, following another set of rules.

They want to both be members of the same club, but none want to follow the
club rules, or only follow the club rules in so far as it suits each group,
that is where we are now ..., a very sorry situation indeed.

So some where Fidonets members are going to have to decide, do they want to be
members of FidoNet, are they going to leave and join another existing net, or
create their own, where they can create the rules to suit themselves ...

The current state of affairs is causing FidoNet to loose members, who have
only one desire, i.e. to follow the club rules, but the other groups are
making their position untenable so they depart quietly ...

So to a cross roads we come ... , unite or split ...

Russell
