Been doing that in my own way. The flawed proposal I dropped, was dropped
mostly because I couldnt get that in there very clearly. It looked like a
free-for-all 000- acceptance and got worse when I tried to fix it <grin>. In
short, it shot Z2 in the foot and i couldnt find a way to fix it, so dropped
it.

That Z1 picked up a flavor of it to use to get things a little closer is
neat, but I found out about it after they had done it. At least, Z1 is a
little cleaner than it used to be. Sometimes small gains are better than
none. In the long run, I really hope this can all be moot.

Ward though as you know, has a bigger job to do for this (RC and down
warnings etc) before he can convert. Now, if he *could* process Z2 'as is
now' while the other zones converted, things could go that way. I just have
a suspicion it will fail unless he's set too.

Perhaps we can ask the ZC's who are ready to do a test run and rename it then
Ward can see if he can process it without harm? *If* that worked, then the
Z1 folks (the largest offenders outside the illegal 00-0-ipset in mostly R50)
could convert and our pesky set will be out of the way.

I can see how to plan such a limited test out (with a renamed, non-live
distro set).

Crosscheck me here? Rough plan of attack.

1- I process a normal
one, and then go back and do a special one with a unique name.

2- My RC processes the normal one, then a second run with unique names
(snagging my special one). (Note: Have to get RC setup for this, shouldnt
take long as Mike Luko is pretty savy).

3- Janis gets the normal one and processes as usual, then does a second run
with the same data except the special RC13 segment with my 'allowunpub' data
in it. This special run goes out to all ZC's also but with a different name
they know is for the test.

4- Ward and all other ZC's who want to play, process the normal distro as
usual, then set a second run to snag the special segment.

They look at the special one and see if net275 goes away or changes. If
net275 doesnt change (they then used the old data and should have an error on
the Z1 special segment), then they have to have allowunpub on to process
another zone's segment.

It could be R13 goes away, or it could be all Z1 goes away. Or, we could
luck up and it rides just fine on the test segment.

I dont know if this has been tried. I do believe it should be if it hasnt.
I'm pretty sure it will fail at Ward's end (and all other ZC's) if he hasnt
turned on 'allowunpub'. Ward last note I recall, was agreeing to use the
new, but hadnt worked it yet into his configs.
            xxcarol
