Hello everybody.

Ok. I am going to use this thing since I may have a lot to say and really don't
want to use the board's internal editor to say it with.

When I agreed to "run" for the FTSC election, I did so on the premis of helping
to not only bring in new ideas for software development, but for the future
development and promotion of Fidonet and Fidonet technology as a whole for mail
transport.

Some of you questioned my abilities and skills.  Even though, as a Fido sysop
for at least 15 years, you really shouldn't question my abilities, I feel that
I really should.

Now I know it's not about just setting up the software as much as developing
software to use with FTN standards, but I just want to give at least one
example of my work.

One of the employers I was working with needed a new way to deliver files and
email when their Internet connection was either too slow to do so or was down
completely.  I brought the idea of FTN technology to the table with them and
they approved the idea.  FTN networking worked so well, they adopted it for all
internal communications between branch offices over Internet email.  Not only
was it faster and more reliable for them, but it also helped them cut down the
costs of having an exhorbitant monthly internet service bill.

Now, if some of you "old hats" want to just stick your heads in the proverbial
sand, be unproductive, continue your petty bickering and let Fido die a slow,
painful death.  Otherwise, allow us "new kids on the block" some leeway in
bringing new ideas to the table that can help promote FTN technology not only
as a hobby, but as a viable form of interpersonal communication for other
purposes.  Ultimately, if attitudes don't change, it will be those attitudes
that will eventually lead the the demise of Fidonet, and BBSing as a whole.

I know I may not be the best coder in the world, I don't claim to be.  But, I
am damn sure I can bring new ideas to the FTN table if you "old hats" would
just open your minds and your eyes by removing the blinders of the past and
allowing them to be exposed to new ideas and new concepts that will help to
promote and educate others about this great hobby of ours.
