I've seen them (CP1252) make that claim.  It isn't exactly true but close
enough that few would catch it if indeed anyone would.

A nonissue given ASCII and the lack of most of the 'appropriate' kludges in
abandonware.  This is only an issue to anyone silly enough to actually write
software that depends on bogus information such as levels in CHRS kludges ...
or even worse, high or extended ASCII.

You have a lousy sense of direction.  I understand compatibilty but fail to
understand backwards.  I see no point dealing with dead and buried systems.  As
for abandonware it is a nonissue and always has been.

Bullsh*t.  Please point out any reachable node where dropping the level
parameter breaks anything.  So far I have observed the reverse and have
adjusted to suit.
