  The theatre usher quickly dashed down front where a man was
crawling around on his hands and knees.  "Sir," he said, "you're
disturbing several people around you.  What's the problem?"

  "I've lost my gum! said the man as the continued to search
around the seats.

  "Sir," the usher said, "if that's your only problem, let me
offer you another stick of gum so you can sit down and watch the show.
A stick of gum is not worth all this disturbance."

  "But I'm afraid you don't understand," explained the man, "my
false teeth are in that gum!"

Then ---------------------------------------

  Sue looked out the front window and saw her small son romping up
the walk carrying a little spotted puppy.  She met him at the door and
commanded, "You take that puppy right back where you got him and bring
your baby sister home."

Then ---------------------------------------

  Barney had been flying single-engine planes for years, but his
mother always warned him that it was a terribly dangerous hobby.  Barney
had asked her hundreds of times to come up with him so she could find
out just how safe...and exhilarating...his flights could be.  Then one
day, she shocked him and said she'd give it a try.

  Determined to make this a memorable experience for his mother,
Barney did everything he could to ensure she'd be comfortable.  Just
before takeoff, he said, "Mom, people sometimes have trouble with their
ears during a flight.  This stick of gum should take care of any
problems."  With that being said, he strapped himself into the pilot's
seat and headed the plane for the runway.

  About an hour and a half later, he touched down and taxied the
plane off the runway.  He helped his mother out of her seat, waiting for
her comments.

  She stood up and smiled at him.  "It was really wonderful," she
said.  "But how do I get the gum out of my ears?"

  Louise and her husband met at the commuter train for the ride
home.  He looked haggard, and she asked, "Did you have a rough day,
dear?"

  "You bet I did," he answered.  "The computer was down, and we
had to think all day long."

SO ---------------------------------------

  A first-grade teacher was overseeing her students as they
experimented with their desk computers.  One boy sat staring at the
screen, unsure how to get the computer going.  The teacher walked over
and read what was on his screen.

  In her most reassuring voice, she said, "The computer wants to
know what your name is."  Then she went on to help the next student.

  The boy leaned toward the screen and whispered, "My name is Ted."

  "Just give us a few days," the repair technician said.  "When we
have the parts, our computer will call your home to let you know."

  "I'm not home during the day," Mr. Smith said.  "However, I do
have an answering machine."

  "Sorry, sir" the technician said.  "Our computer won't talk to a
machine."
