(News FLASH! Universal acceptance of religions is now as it has, for the
live of man - pretty much nil. :-) ( Come to think about it: name a rule
law or opinion that is universally accepted. ) )
I take it (I would also be a heretical Mormon :-) that the plates are a way
of of stating a spiritual communication. No trace of an ark, or a burning
bush, wine as the blood of Christ, reliquaries in general...poetic myth as
a way of thinking...why does poetry exist? To teach science? (I believe,
without much proof that poetry preceded prose when it comes to man's
development of language.) The Cross as well as most icons are agents of
focus. Scientific evidence, on your terms and within you level of
acceptance 
is impossible. Now when MY church becomes accepted universally, as it melds
science and religion perfectly, I look forward some twenty thirty years
down the road, you becoming an acolyte :-)

Hey, a test of faith, a mutual agreement, without 'scientific proof' Like
being a Republican :-)

Then why aren't you laughing and having a good time? I could admire your
sense of humor if that were the case. Peeking in from the outside you and I
see two different things. You see a 'total joke' , I find much to admire.
Like the Amish, they show their religion's admirable qualities...some things
are difficult if not impossible to communicate: e.g., It would be impossible to
communicate to Ed the differences in various kinds of wine...and the reasons
for some being superior to others...nor is there any reason to try.:-) I think
the same is true of faith. That's why it's talked about a lot. It IS  becoming
the realm of science; it's thought the religious impulse is hard wired in our
brains. Not conclusive, but interesting...
