Are you sure there never was a node in Greenland? Anyway there were in Iceland.
That still makes Z2 span from Iceland to Oman. Also 80 degrees...

I don't think it makes any difference. Keep in mind that *Cs are not bound by
the decisions of their predecessors. That Guam was once listed in Z6 does not
mean it will be listed their again if a new node should emerge. The then IC
might just as well argue that as it is US territory, it should be Z1. Just like
Hawai.

Again: by whom? And who says Z6 should cover *all* of Asia? And then why was
Guam in Z6. Surely that's Oceania, NOT Asia? And if Oceania is part of Z6, then
why is Hawai in Z1?

By whom? I certainly do not consider it as such. No pubs... ;-)

Point is that the zone bounderies are not formally laid down. Policy says
nothing about it, so all we can go by is the nodelist. We can plot all the
nodes of a zone on a map and draw a line connecting the outermost nodes. We
could say that is the territory covered by that zone. Doing this for all the
zones leaves a lot of "white" on the map. Should a node (re)emerge in the
"white", it is for the IC to decide in what zone he should be allocated a node
number. In that the then IC is not bound by the decisions of his predecessors.
