Firewall/NAT and dynamic IP address. About the worst that could happen
if my IP address were harvested would be an attempt to hack into the
system. Each system, including the BBSs SMTP/POP are covered by AVG
anti-virus. The open ports are all covered by servers that have their
own protection. Synchronet does a good job of protecting the server
ports it uses from hack attempts. The internet connection sharing over
the LAN is handled by the Win98 "Internet Connection Sharing"(ICS)
program built into Win98. It acts as a limited NAT router and
firewall. I also check the configuration of other programs (Yahoo
Messenger and such) to make sure that they are configured to only
allow access to what I want access allowed to.

To get into the system here is not easy. Some keep trying, but none
have succeeded that I know of. I have a list of attempts in my logs
that I have to trim now and then to keep the size down. :)
