Hey Shawn!

That is my best guess.

That I wouldn't know. All I know for sure is gettting rid of the unneeded
(unwanted in this case) 16-bit binary stuff makes it more suitable to coversion
to any other format while maintaining the important (wrt Fido) information that
other nodes would require. I haven't been using any of that internally other
then ensuring it is there.

SH> Accessing squish bases is pretty darn easy.

Text is even easier and doesn't require any addition runtimes to deal with it.
Even OSX can handle that.

SH> Laugh. Your right out of it.

I know. However I am also correct in this case. Have yet to see much actual
development going on in OSX beyond the commercial stuff despite the right tools
being offered. There are a dew hardy types using OSX but that is the exception
rather than the rule. Mind you that may happen to Linux some day but I am not
going to do anything to promote that mode of operations.

SH> At this point your one of about 3 people in the world who haven't

The 486 doesn't need it and in fact would be totally detrimental to it. There
is far more to computing than just GUI apps thank goodness. The fact that OSX
requires one makes it crippleware seeing it cannot handle any given situation.
It is just a toy.

SH> I was a hold out, but I now understand the

The 486 doesn't have or need a monitor of any size. That would be a waste of
electricity there. I also now have a AM2 pure 64-bit machine that sort of
replicates the 486 except am now working on a chroot jailed gcc and friends so
that it can be clustered out to the rest of the network so that it could
potentially take care of any additional needs the 486 or any other machine
might wish it to do for them. No monitor or keyboard required and it's main
rootfs is also a 8M ramdisk albiet pure 64-bit. I am swapping out the drive -
currently a 300G sata - for both pure 32-bit and pure 64-bit development.
Currently I have a Pentium D dual core em64t as my main workstation (pure
64-bit root/boot) that also has a pure 32-bit development enviroment for things
like the 486. Only got xorg recently working in a pure 64-bit enviroment but
haven't done anything about GUI apps ... yet. First things first. GUI apps
are at the bottom of my list even in 32-bit world. Eye candy mostly. I have
multiple consoles available so you're above requirement is a nonissue and has
been for over 10 years now.

Life is good,
Maurice
