Hey Shawn!

So exactly what do you do to access them without any additional runtimes? At
the very least strings or something like it I would think. Mind you that also
works on raw pkt's but can be lossy and thus generate output that if converted
into fields (To, From, etc) could potentially generate a bad message, no matter
what format the message.

Not really. Also binary differs on different architetures and will again
generate bad messages if not compensated for. The only standard that seems to
apply, no matter what, is ascii thus far although there is promotion and work
going on to alter that state of affairs given the language limitation. However
I have yet to run across a computer that didn't understand the int's 0-127 no
matter what endianess, which could potentially be another can of worms,
although probably not in Fido.

SH>> Laugh. Your right out of it.
 MK>> I know.

SH> I'm not sure you do.

I am sure. Have been aware for some time now.

SH> Wow. Where do you look Maurice on Linux websites?

Only two at the moment. Used to be others except not as "maurice" in terms of
username. The safest bet is www.minimalinux.org.

SH> explain that comment. There is so much amazing development out there
SH> for MacOS right now, even free software.

I've been to the main development site. They are trying to catch up.

SH> Right. Textmode is the way to go! Welcome to 1979!

Earlier than that but 1979 works for me.

SH> Computer is tit useless without a way to use it.

Right. But that doesn't always involve a monitor thank goodness. Definetly
not a GUI in most cases but I can think of a few worthy causes where a GUI
comes in very handy. However not much of that goes on here so it isn't a
primary issue and from what I've demonstrated to locals they tend to agree with
me even if their primary box is windows. :::shudder:::

It all works out fine.

SH> 200 machines is text mode and I'm operating 1 computer with a monitor
SH> you tell me who's wasting hydro.

Someone has to take care of the good stuff on multiple systems so that silly
OSX people don't totally screw it all up.

SH> Besides what's the point in a 486? You can buy a brand new Dell
SH> for $299 now, and $100 of that is the price of the OS.

I like my 486 best. Lean and mean. It thinks it's a Cray despite the low
wattage it requires. The 'Little Train That Could' comes to mind.

SH> <Snip your nonsense that means nothing to anyone but you>

I've noticed that too. I've learned to live with it.

Bottomline is that it does matter, it works and is totally adaptable and
compatible. Far more then can be said for any other nonsense.

Life is good,
Maurice
