hunh?? a wireless bbs? FTN type points aren't related to bbs'... a bbs is a bbs
is a bbs... nothing more than a piece of software that provides access to
messages, maybe some files and possibly even some games...

with some scripting, linux can be a bbs and by using some gnu utils, easily
provide access to messages, files and games...

how the connection is made to be able to login to the system is another factor,
completely, and plays absolutely no part in whether the system is called a bbs
or not... a pots line does not a bbs make... networking wirelessly or wired,
both would be using tcp/ip at least... that would put telnet up as the
likeliest method of access but then you get those purists [sic] who balk at
running anything else thru a telnet pipe (like zmodem file transfers) for
whatever silly reasons... messages go thru that pipe as do games so why not
files?

another possibility, being as we're talking about networked access to a bbs,
would be a psuedo-local login... using netbios, netbeui, tcpbeui or possibly
even nfs, all remote systems would map the same bbs directory to the same drive
letter or directory on their local boxes... cd into it and then just execute
the package just like the sysop would do for a local logon... the key factor,
however, would be that none of the sysop's functions or capabilities would be
available... so, at this point, what method of up/downloading files is used?
easy... it is nothing more than a simple copy command but one that is kicked
off by the bbs software being used... and message base access? all "local"...
games? anyone up for rogue?
