Almost never but there is always a first time.  It happened to me once totally
by accident when first looking at sata and it inadvertantly fixed ide, not that
it matters anymore.  Still it was interesting at the time. Can't find that card
anywhere anymore and when I last did a search for it I got nine hits, all in
Canada, all running linux, and all searching for the same card for the exact
same reason I was.  Unreal.

I've been hearing that for about a year now, maybe more.  Don't hold your
breath.  With all the recent troubles I have had lately with USB I am inclined
to think it is a pipe dream.

If it works.  My best guess it'll be available on a pci-e card first, if it
even gets released at all.

I found one.  Good price and P35 chipsets which is the same as this Supermicro
the Xeon is running on.  I have more pci's but less pci-e's. Looks good but no
details on the esata.  If they are as smart as they think they are, they'd put
an Sil controlling that.  The Sil3132 I added works excellent.

Right.  I'd want at least two so three is a bonus.  I like the idea of the
three x1 pci-e slots but it would have been even better if one was an x8. 
Price is right so I wouldn't complain.  Also noted the onboard Intel Gbit
ethernet.  That is a must have.  :-)

You obviusly haven't got my last message about this.  It'll catch up to you.

The Asus P5Q Pro is about 20 dollars Canadian more then the Dragon Tail Peak
and has P45 chipsets.  The two esata's on there are what caught my eye.  They
also tell me that they use an Sil for that which I think is a good idea.  That
particular Sil I can't say for sure but I can say the one I have (see above)
turned out to be a very good investment.

However the Dragon Tail Peak looks very attractive and didn't go overboard with
the x16 pci-e scam.  <BFEG>
