That is what I did.  It worked out great.  Haven't done much with it since but
I have the scripts and build order for all the dependencies as well as
ecasound.  Definetly a keeper although I may decide to drop a few unneeded
dependencies later.

Exactly except I woouldn't bother with conversion since there are apps that can
handle the higher quality output as well as the soundcard. If needed then
ecasound could downsample it on the fly for outputting to wherever, including a
CD burner.  :::shudder:::

Something like that.  However, such in the case of the soundcard and ecasound,
you're getting something back for the investment and the extra work.  Definetly
a good fit with the 'bang for the buck' idea.

Howver that is only half the equation and given the only formats it can handle
are all abandonware then it really doesn't matter much how well it is written
in the final analysis.

Hm.  I had a looksee yesterday and decided it probably isn't worth the effort
all things considered.  The current way I am doing it is probably the correct
choice despite my dislike for web interfaces.

Agreed.  However without Fidonet then both are totally useless.

I have a start.  :-)

I'll wait until you're ready for action and we can contrast and compare. What I
currently have will be a very good kickstart for you but until you are ready
they aren't worth much to anyone but me.
