Named below.
See when I initially booted Slack after installling the
Nvidia it saw BOTH video cards which was fine until I
installed their driver.

That left me with a scragged file system on my boot
partition because xorg.conf while it had a entry for
both cards it only had a screen section for the Nvidia
this overdriving the Mach 64 and when I initiated KDE scragged the
system completely.

But the upside is I've retained those messed up files
as they actually allowed the second monitor to recognise the card
the lack of screen section for the ATI caused the problems.

IOW's the second monitor did not go into power saver mode
until I trimmed the Mach 64 entry.

Now with both at hand configuring both monitors, non-techie,
in the 3 xorg files I can make claim to an easy to use
system for the disabled in the KDE GUI.

Something I will look into in future as I save all posts from you of
interest.

I want to setup affordable systems
for the disabled as well and they aren't all geeks nor care to be.

I'm certain you way is better and quicker for you and ultimately for me which
is why I'm going this way around.

 MK> That is weird.  For 32 bit I am using this configure line;

Not weird at all with the two video card previously seen at once.

Now /dev/hda3 only sees the Nvidia with my custom xorg.conf, xorg.conf-vesa and
xorg.conf as welll as xorg.conf-vesa.

I didn't force it, the dueling video and motherboard BIOS's did.

Now after I upload this I'm going to configure /dev/hda3 my
pristine SLK 12.2 install with only the Nvidia recognised
it will be a snap or maybe even tomorrow s it was a semi-grueling
4 1/2 hour episode getting partition three to only
recognise the Nvidia.

I'll not be revealing THAT secret nor the secret to sucessfully cleaning
DVD's and CD's as that too is certain to be criticised by certain types.

I will reveal to you privately.

This is not right I should have to be this way in this type of echo
however a certain few have stalked me here and I do not wish to provide
fodder for their continued criticisms of stuff I know works.

See the idea I've got is to set these things up so simple anyone
can use it as easily as a WinBlows user in the KDE desktop.

Yesterday you said you figured the command line better for most
with disablities however my right hand has been swollen with
arthritus this last week so the mouse at my left hand is convenient
as that hand wasn't affected, this time.

As is I basicallly live on a 4.5 inch mattress on the floor 22 1/2 hours a day
with computer, monitor, cable box and stereo mounted underneath
a board on top of two plastic milk cartons at either end.

This support and this alone allows me to walk at all.

 MK> Life is good,
 MK> Maurice

Yeah, good after I get this coffee down and take a day off this stuff
to read a book *after* installing Mplayer with a real AGP video
card.

Yup, Mr. Cassell's advice held me up for 2 1/2 weeks until yesterday
my system was again stable enough and CD's cleaned enough the right way
to setup Slackware 12.2 after 4 1/2 hours of making it
setup the video card correctly then another hour loading Slack.
