Assuming my advice was bad, which it wasnt, nor was it given maliciosly, it was
not me whom executed it..

All I said was you were bellyaching about the Vidcard, it was the common
denominator, remove it and backtrack..

Indeed.. Didnt need to muck with Xorg files and I am employing a proprietary
Nvidia driver here.. But vid chipset is built into the mobo.

When I had Winders on the machine, I did run it dual monitor with a ATI card,
couldnt disable the onboard vid, but reduced the amount of memory it was taking
from the pool.

I have to say that to recover the box from the spot I was in with it, with
Windows, would have taken longer.. Mostly because lack of need to reboot after
installing something.

I neither purchased the card nor installed it in your machine..

Telling you to remove it, as a result of your stated issues, was not bad
advice, then again your description of the issue was inadequate and evolved
like a rumor flying around the halls of a high school.

Why, with one livecd and a flashdrive, I pulled key files off of a drive that
would not boot and only mounted after several tries and did not read reliably.

Ah reminds me, got to goto Western Digitals Website, might be able to swing a
free replacement for the failed drive.. Spare stuff is good to have.

Fidonet message echoes, are public forums, when someone posts an inaccuracy,
its not unusual to see that person corrected.. Of course I see now, you are
going to blame me for your ails, maybe your back problems are my fault?

If you need handholding or protection from the real world, simply go to a
Church Social and chat with the old biddies.

However I will stop here if you stop whining about my so called bad advice, it
was nothing more than troubleshooting 101. You chose to take it, nothing is
