Understood.  I briefly had one of them newfangled pcie ones working but due to
the lack of a proper antenna I was not 100% positive how well it was REALLY
working.  However Paul put it on his XP box and confimed that it wasn't all
that great.  He has an antenna as well as got a cable connection working
(software driven) which wasn't supported with the standard linux multimedia
modules for those particular crappy addon cards.  What a waste.  Not sure if
the situation has changed any and I honestly don't care anymore.

I think I had it working great with mplayer.  If I recall correctly it is a
cx2341x based dealie.

More work but much easier to troubleshoot.

That *should* work.  Perhaps you've got the wrong kernel version or are using
one of them silly Debainish bastardized kernels.  ;-)

VIA P4M800 chipsets.  I don't know anything about them.  However the 945's
should be doable.  Everything here with those chipsets have no issues with
booting usb flash disks.  Mind you I have run across some extremely crappy
flash disks and ESPECIALLY card readers and adapters and that might be the real
issue.  What I had to do with some el-cheapo usb flash disk ones is rewrite all
the blocks using dd and then fdisk them so that a suitable mbr was rewritten. 
Then, and ONLY then, would they boot properly.

Hm.  I'll have to recheck this one while I still have it.

Excellent choice.  I'll slap one together and let you know where to get it via
email.  Is your address the same as before?  All this is unofficial at the
moment and I'd like to keep it that way until the time comes ... if indeed it
ever comes.
