Yip, there's a mouthful.
But then I've got nothing in the way of experience with a T.V. card, only
pbs.org online
video.

Heck I'd ship you one of mine but have you any idea of the cost just to
Illinois?
Over $60 bucks in shipping as I ran the numbers on UPS's web page, plus
insurance.

I've got five now, 3 - 17" Acer, HP and Dell, one Gateway 20" inch viewable
VX1110 at 27.5 Kgms
and the 15" Sony I repaired just a while back. All CRT's

The Dell was ten dollars at the local shop used, the Sony $5, the HP given to
me and
the other two snagged off the sidewalk next to dumpsters including the 20"
Gateway that works fine.

Well I need to take off the anti-glare coating with a solvent as it's damaged
and makes it a bit
annoying to view darker images.

 MK> How about you?

Saved this post as more usual than not as reference material.
No TV card.
All user subdirectories to be copied to all other partitions tomorrow.
I've been rather busy monkeying around with the system software and haven't
buggered anything up yet.

If not for the superblock all three Linux partitons on this drive would have
been identical in size
but I ran the math first and 3 and 4 are exactly the same size right out to the
edge of the drive,
about 19777 Meg each with a 768M swap on hda2 and a 512 on hdb2.
Neither have seen much if any action with this kernel.

Also I need to write down the beginning and ending blocks for all partitions
on both physical drives as having that information has saved me a great
deal of effort on a number of ocassions.

The ex-girlfriend came up with the idea I should make it up there on the tenth
of May and
that just ain't happening as I need 90 days to prepare for such a move as well
as lose 20 LBS as to
be sufficiently underweight to actually make the trip.

Compiling the 2.6.33.1 kernel awaits coffee on Friday so that'll likely be done
on
my primary partition over the following weekend, after I research your tip on
altering the compile
to negate the annoying wrong mtrr address message.

Come to find out even with the kernel that came with 13.0 2.6.29.6 the ATI
motherboard AGP video
works FAR better than the Nvidia which annoys as this motherboard is 12 years
old now and the $28
Nvidia was brand new.

The kernel that came with Slack 12.2 just couldn't squeeze by after allocating
64 meg to the ATI
but this kernel manages it fairly well especially with using startx rather than
kdm to launch a desktop
which is invariably fluxbox now.

Even if one could stand how KDE is now laid out and where all the settings are
mysteriously
difficult to find and the retarded default weren't to save settings upon exit
who could stand the
design and plasma colors?
My first experience with Slackware, 10.2 on a Gateway computer was the best by
far.

Darn I just wish that woman would be reasonable and get her head screwed on
tight to the realities
of making this all happen.

As is I'll be tossing a lot of good stuff but the tower has to go North even if
the 20" monitor has to go.

I'll offer it up to the legally blind lady that used to co-manage this place
for free
if and when I go north.

Old reliable flatbed scanner, four laser printers sans cartridges, three bubble
jets of unknown
condition but the HP color, scanner, FAX, copier to be attempted on this one as
it has new cartridges
and CUPS is supposed to be a near universal for H.P. driver collection.

Has *anyone* ever met a truly reasonable woman?
