I would indeed, except for PBS which is very accomodating in this regard.
John Stewarts Daily Show site, not so much with the video seriously lagging the
audio.

 MK> mplayer -vo fbdev2:/dev/fb1 -fs -zoom -xy 800 \
 MK> http://pbs.streamed.mpeg -cache <kBytes>

Thanks, that syntax is quite easy enough to follow and already save to text.

I also downloaded through SVN rtmpdump which I don't realy yet know
anything about not yet having the read the docs however I've a vague idea it
may be
save a streaming video file?

I've not read the readme nor compiled until such time as I do and undertand
exactly what this is supposed to do for me but it was recomended on Mplayer's
web site in the Netherlands.

 > Compiling the 2.6.33.1 kernel awaits coffee on Friday

MK> Sounds like an excellent plan. No need to rush into it.

And there is as yet no rush.
I need to touch up the other Linux installs on these drives first as all
but hdb1 are virginal as yet not even having rc.firwall or ABP,
ad block plus, for Firefox.

Nor does hdb have mmail-0.49 as of yet though it does have ABP and the
firewall active and working.

So far I've only used that one to hit the bank so there should be precisely
one cookie in that directory.

Currently .63 cents in the bank until Friday due to generosity to a certain
lady
last month.

Well the installation disks are fragged for one but I could hard drive one with

an ISO now I've a stable system to work with, that was not the case for some
three months until I ordered new Slack 13.0 disks.

I threw out disks two and three but maintain disk one as that one is intact
and I can use it as a boot CD.

Oh and the real trick I've found to keeping CD's usable?

The darn oil on your hands and fingers, keep it off the CDs at all
costs.

Heck Slack 13.0 arrived with one tiny partial fingerprint and it would
not install several files complaining of corruption of those files.

Washed under tepid water after dousing with dilute Dawn dishwashing detergent
being sure to not wash ALL of that last bit of Dawn off so as to not water spot
everything went right in perfect.

From my experience with the Slack 12.2 disks, scratches if not too deep
from the edge to center don't matter much however the ones in a concentric
circle
do matter and corrupt the data but small ones of these can be buffered out
with a coffee filter thus Slack 1 install works fine.

I now handle CDs only from the back labeled side slipping a pinky into the hole
and store them in marked paper sleeves with the label side to the side I've
marked the sleeve so I can again slip them out without transferring any
hand or finger oil to them.

In extreme cases where there's major buildup you can use a pinky finger
already cleaned with dilute dishwashing soap to work from center to rim
to clear off large deposits making another pure dilute detergent wash and
quite brief water rinse again so as to leave trace detergent and not water
spot.

 > Has *anyone* ever met a truly reasonable woman?

MK> Heh, heh. I doubt there is a proper answer to that question. Also am
MK> positive women have a simular question about men.

Yup, I believe you're correct in that as well.

Anyway the above CD handling tips are more for lurkers reading as I know
you've nothing to do with them anymore and that will likely soon be true
of me as well however ITMT it has served me rather well.

Thus I tossed it in for others who may find this useful information.

Drying takes about 1/2 - 3/4 hour standing on edge in some sort of clean
kitchen pot or pan
with the disk vertical and the label side to a soft clean cloth backing.
Drying off course being somewhat humidity dependent.

The cloth also help wick up any drainage at the bottom edge.

I don't even touch the edges of CDs anymore for these reasons save for the
center hole
with freshly cleaned hands.
