Yup, hyperthreading.
I recall that from support at Gateway.

Unfortunately no AGP slot and only express 8x per their specs., a 1ex
and three PCI as well and not positive but I firewire as well.
I've really no idea what firewire IS.

Memory and sensibilities have near fully returned after my neurological
anomaly.

A bit higher is supported as well IIRC 600 something?

I do believe you're right in it maxing at 4 Gig RAM.

I'd go 2G as it does yet again employ shared video memory and this memory
isn't so old as to be expensive or difficult to find.

Were I to not kick on the AC this month I could buy it on the third.

And no I really am not all that compelled to move to 64 bit however
as it's there why not?

Should I be fortunate enough to get a quality motherboard I'd not need to
upgrade again for the foreseeable future.

CompUsa only has ONE Supermicro motherboard, Intel at some $279  
while Newegg appears to have a good many 


BTW I've the absolute GREATEST admiration for Gateway systems prior to 
their takeover by Acer, as to what they offer now as regards to quality 
I've no idea.

Same goes for IBM except to a slightly lesser extent prior to Lenovo.

Essential the same quality but the former Gateway had the quality in it's
additional components as well as the motherboard.

Any points AGAINST moving to 64 a bit system?

Both IBM and Gateway had really high quality Intel rock standard motherboards 
of the highest quality I've ever seen and Linux never had the least difficulty 
with anything but the Compaq branded ethernet card previously in this machine
which I promptly replaced with a far better card.

Is there such a thing as an ethernet Winsoft card?
That's what the Compaq ethernet card appeared to be unless it was merely dead.
