I don't think Germania was any more or less Roman before or after they tacked
on "Holy" to the Roman Empire.  The only difference was the Emperor of Rome who
was crowned by the Pope who was Roman.  There was no Italy.

Long after and I am betting there was still a heavy Roman influence and it's
leadership would trace it's claim to leadership back to the Romans or at least
the Pope who happened to be Roman or at least could trace his claim back to the
days of the Roman Empire.

Many will dispute the 'ONLY religion' part.  I don't see any difference other
than tacking on the word 'Holy".

With the Pope's blessing I might add and that at least one of the royals was
crowned Emperor of Rome by the Pope who was Roman.

Do you mean like a Roman Emperor?  ;-)

No I didn't misunderstand.  In my situation there is only a text editor and it
could be a frontend to suitable routines that could take care of what a
wordprocessor does for you.  That is what I used to do when it mattered which
it doesn't anymore.

joe is okay.  nano is less bloated and works do it wins ... for now. I am still
using vim to type this message but this will be the last one ... I think.

Yes.  I take the personal part of PC personally and act accordingly. Nothing
remotely resembling what other's PCs end up like.  :::shudder:::

If it were up to me that would be impossible given it wouldn't exist.

I haven't seen Gnome for ages now.  I'll have to take your word on this.

I am using fbi on the commandline.  I still don't have a GUI going and given
the latest build is pure gcc (ie no g++) then it appears that there might never
be a GUI.  If so then I doubt I'll miss it as I never really needed a GUI ever.
 It was everyone else around here that thought it was both a need and a want. 
Not me though.
