Stop there. The unzipped files are fine, as (little as) I understand it.

The chown - via bash script - works. If the "original" file arrives 660, would
net the same difference now, sans the time it takes to shell out the job from
mm.

From the umask man:
       (because 0666 & ~022 = 0644; i.e., rw-r--r--).

umask *is* set here at 022. But earlier up the man:

umask() sets the calling process's file mode creation mask (umask) to mask &
0777. 

So, shouldn't files be "created" -rwxr-xr-x? (755) 

I think the miss to this quandary is, I am creating nothing but a *place* for
an existing file?
