Learning and understanding programming/hardware concepts is
never a waste of time. Memorizing programming/hardware concepts
is a bit of a waste IMO.

DOS has been a 'good thing' in that it has allowed many with
limited resources to begin to organize their thinking for
programming and to find what computers do well and what
computers do _not_ do well. It's a starting place for those
less privileged.

I have read of manufacturers considering using the bootstrap
loader to load the BIOS rather than using ROM chips. I think
that might lend itself to more inovation in the long run.

This group of a half dozen or more certainly _were_ wrong that
time. :-)
