No, we were comrades in-arms in New Guinea at that time, We
assisted them in their southern portions and they worked with
us in the northern Dutch area (which was particularly helpfull
for those of us whoes previous tour had been in Alaska and the
treeless Aleutian Islands 8-(.

Our team was a fairly tight TO of 14 sargents and one Lt.Peter
Goff, who specialized in early field installatios of radar and
radio communications to assist our attack planes pilolets were
to go fight and safely come back for more fuel and ammo.

Lt.Goff had been born in Sydney and fatcatted there see some of
his family there while we were R&R in Hollandia (mostly catching
up on sleep and avoiding being a meal for the bugs 8-(

While in Sydney, Peter accquired a bottle of wiskey to help us
celebrate my becoming a father some few weeks later. When I was
informed that genealogical item had become a fact, Peter brought
the bottle to our bivouvac area to help us celebrate (I can still
recall crawling back to my pup tent and the fact that the wiskey
was green in colour, but we didn't realy care at the moment 8-)

BTW If David is still reading our mail here; I would appreciate
knowing if green wiskey is percular that area of OZ or ?
(to ack82 at comcast dot net if one wishs to avoid possible
further ire from our conference moderator 8-)
