That explains alot.  I don't know about Japan but on this side of the Pacific
we could use a change.

Gotcha!  I'll need to do some cheching on that but I did manage to get
1280x1024 16-bit at 85Hz working.  I need to check further about 24-bit.

I was sort of right about that, and it looks like both are going to have to be
the same since they can't be set independently.  So if the tft can only handle
800x600 16-bit at 60Hz then both the crt (vga plug) and the tv-out will have to
operate at that level.  That kind of sucks but if I totally ignore the vga plug
it might make a suitable card for a digital vcr to a small tft.  I can't see it
being industrial/commercial grade.

I stumbled across those on a search.  Definetly overkill for my use for this
card.  We'll see once I hook something suitable up to the tv-out and take it
from there.  At this stage of the game I am liking Matroxes more and more
despite how good a GUI looks on the radeon.  At least with a Matrox the
interfaces can be different resolutions/frequencies, even with the g400
breakout box.  Far more configurable.

Beats me.  All I know is that nothing dvd-ish seems to catch my fancy that
can't be done better some other way.  As far as archiving goes I prefer the
sata method and the DVD movie format can be replicated on a HD if anyone really
cares about that.  I know I don't.  They can keep that BS.
