Good grief! Did you even read what I said?

MK> True but they are where it all starts for the rest of us Linux users.

Not necessarily.

Then, why did you even bother? That was the entire point of his post.

MK>>> I didn't say that, but that is the MOST honest Linux. :-)

EH>> Yes you did. And no it isn't.

Good grief.

MK>>> The usual case. So far nothing different about that.

EH>> Then, what IS your problem?

MK> I have no problem. I know what Linux is.

So do the rest of us.

 EH>> Where, your house?

MK> Yep. Used to do it for other people as well but since then they

I have a computer that dual boot XP and Linux and XP works just fine.

In order to be able to use computers one must remember that ALL OSes
suck and ALL hardware sucks. Once you realize that, you can stay sane
while wrangling with the technology.

EH>> Slackware isn't the best by any stretch.

 MK> Yes it is.

That is entirely a matter of opinion.

Well, there is also Yagsdrasl (sp?) that has been around for several
years.

Mine is attached squarely between my shoulders.

Good for them. I'm sure you're quite comfortable with your little amen
corner.

EH>> www.kernel.org isn't the only source for Linux.

 MK> The main one.

You might think so.

 EH>> Good for you.

MK> It has been and continues to be.

That's nice.

EH>> And I didn't even compile a thing. Imagine that.

 MK> Sounds boring to me.

I have no problem with that. I prefer to be productive right off
without having to play with things.

EH>> As I have said repeatedly, www.kernel.org isn't the only source

MK> The main one. Without it argueably there would be no others.

If you say so.

EH>> I suppose you think you are the only one right.

MK> No but I am here. The majority doesn't count, right or wrong, since

Where is "here?" You little world?

MK>>> Good for them. I wish them all the luck in the world.

 EH>> Sure you do.

MK> Actually I do. That was honest. The more the merrier methinks,
MK> whether I use them or not. I think we all benefit from that.

Agreed.

Multimedia apps, internet apps, office apps, graphics apps, etc.

Good for you.

EH>> Making the claim that it isn't Linux unless you get it from

Of course you will. I didn't say anything to the contrary. You are
talking of the base core and I am talking about what is commonly
offered by the various distributions.

EH>> There isn't much the average user can do with just the raw

 MK> The poor sods. ;-)

They aren't you.
