Ärende: installing Linux with eCS

what is eCS? an operating system? =0

I haven't installed Ubuntu, I installed Slackware, but I hope they're not
differs.

First, try to format 40 gig partition to "Linux Ext2" filesystem (so, LILO
(LInux LOader) will be written there).
Next, in process of linux installation select this partition and reformat it if
you want.
Select packages you want to install (you can select all of them).
Next, after the LILO installer will appear, you have to select "Root" option,
so MBR will not be changed.
There can be some configuration questions. Ask as you want (but read and think
about them ;)).

IDK :) Should recognize, at least :) I use Acronis OS Selector.

Nothing.
