More than the general idea, much more.
Centers of the mind concerned with expression most affected.
Not speech but vision and written text.
Meant dircolors.

Right in the file is says taking it local makes user colors
modifiable for that user.
Ran into another /etc file that dictates sytem parameters globally,
sysconfig or some such, kept notes.

I know.

Yup, on the same page, that's what I thought.

Heh, beat you to it, first thing I did was ls $HOME <g>
Let the system tell me what it's doing interactively.

Knew that also from "Unix Shell Programming" by Arthur - Burns
It's a special character.
Need to read some of that over again, and then over again.

 MK> Clear as mud? :-)

Crystal clear AAMOF no matter how poorly I express it.

WC> Like $HOME points to the current user at consoles
 WC> home directory?

MK> Yes but only to bash and other programs that recognize that as a global

WC> I'll leave it as a root owned file modifying it as root.

MK> Exactly. /etc/DIR_COLORS is the default file in slackware.

Not sure you know what I mean now.
Putting a copy in wchirnside HOME so locally coloer customized.
Still intend to leave it owned by root.

 WC> You picking on me?

 MK> You did ask.

I ask one simple question, invaribly it takes me all over the place<g>
Instead of getting the one answer I get it and 12 more.

MK> For sure. 'Advanced Bash Scripting' is a really good source for most

I've a couple of texts from school from the weeks before my back broken.
 Two are shell programming.
 2 C
 1 C++ I've little use for.

MK> That is a good idea.

It's about time.

WC> ITMT as my normal user I would use Mozilla communicator
WC> further isolating any browser crossover.

 MK> Another good idea.

 Paranoid, but not paranoid.
I found a cookie today that refuses to delete.
Figure I'll have to force it as root as it seems
to me I recall the option force
Guessing that's the same keeping Mplayers codecs directory locked
 tight.
I mean the "file or directory does not exist" yet I can't create as root?
Has to be permissions which I realy just got onto.
I'll be proficient in a few days from usage.

WC> Did I say I was taking the day off ;-)

MK> I think you mentioned something like that earlier. What happened?

I've developed an addiction to Slackware.
I like tools, you know the rest.
