I thought it was uClibc?  Or are you saying the dvelopment system itself uses
glibc but targets for uClibc?  I've seen that happen.

Yes I know but that still doesn't mean you have to be stuck back when whomever
abandoned your cause.  From my understanding that seems to be your predicament
at the moment.  I am sure a modern busybox could be adapted, and perhaps even
give you extra elbow room, without losing sight of the target.  BTW why all the
hoop jumping for floppies?  Does your target have other boot capabilities?

The difference is both the versions of glibc and gcc.  BTW gcc-4.1.1 builds
tighter code then gcc-3 versions.  ;-)

Not always.  Your host machine's system might be if it has to look after
different goals but that is probably less of a concern if it can build suitable
compact systems for targets and keep them up to date as well.  No?

Okay but I haven't had an issue with ext2 and whatever boot media.  Also this
keeps all the systems more or less in sync and I don't have to sweat differing
format schemes, especiall not for stinkin' floppies casuse!!!  Geez man I think
you really need to consider the true value of floppy booting and whether they
are worth the additional hassel they are causing you.  I truly understand the
desire for compactness but that has absolutely nothing to do with stinkin'
lousy floppies!!!

Lose the floppies and the billions will take care of themselves.  Definetly not
nearly a billion to be made there.

I was thinking of having another kick at that can.  It would be interesting to
see what could be crammed into a small space these days and from what I've seen
recently I am thinking it might be doable and possibly more powerful.  I think
I am almost ready to at least give it a fair shot.
