OK more interesting things!

I logged on to the URL as suggested, manually inserted the user name and
password.  Poof!  Here came the pav.zip file.   All about 20MB of it!

Duhh!  According to the instructions in the .PDF for the Panda tool off Hobbs,
what is needed is to simply put the latest PAV.SIG file in the current
installed directory which in my case is the 'standard' \pavos2 for researh
purposes here.

Well, the as-installed product apparently works file with the expected out of
date virus sig as installed.

But WOW!  The PAV.SIG file I got, when undone by ZIP for OS/2 version 5.22 I
think, produces a 63,141,301 byte file!  It is for 10-14-2008 per the date on
the file and so.

OK, I tried to use the Desktop Panda product to load it.  Won't complete a
load.  OK I went and tried PAVCL.EXE from a command line window which does load
and seems to work as installed.  It won't finish loading either!

Hmmmmmm...   What might be wrong here?   I'm using MCP2 on the test machine
with XRC05 latest FixPack.  This is an R40 Laptop being used for test purposes
with 512MB worth of actual memory.  File Freedom which I use for file work will
actually load the PAV.SIG file and show the first text of it as "Signature file
system (c) Panda Security...

More interesting, if I then delete the PAV.SIG file from the directory,then
attempt to run PAV.EXE again, I show that the default actions are now all
blank.  As well, the extensions settings are all blank too.  I can restore the
default actions by hand, then check tthe "ALL" extensions.  I can then again
use the installed PAV to scan a directory and it uses the 'default' signature
file that produces the same results for test purposes before I tried the new
PAV.SIG file.

Hmmmmm..

I'm using a setting in CONFIG.SYS for memory things as:

  SET JAVA_HIGH_MEMORY=1
  SET VIRTUALADDRESSLIMIT=1536

My SWAPPER.DAT file is initialized to 66MB by default.  After whatever here it
has not grown from the default 67,108,864 byte size on other than the C:\ boot
disk where I have out it.  SYSINFO/2 shows I have only 12.6% of the 512MB
memory used after boot when I try this.

From the moment I click on the executable of either kind there from that point
on when I have inserted PAV.SIG in the directoryu nothing ever loads.

What is your file size and so on?  What is your executable date for the Panda
executables you are using?
